About the role
- To effectively manage all security operations on shift, ensuring that high quality, timely and appropriate levels of security services, fire protection and safety services are provided to The Prince Charles Hospital as required to ensure the protection of persons, the protection of property, the prevention of crime, the preservation of the peace and the protection of information.
- To ensure that Security Services is supporting and assisting clinical staff in the management of problematic individuals, security incidents and events, and fire and emergency incidents that may include liaison with Emergency Services.
- To lead Security Officers (OO3) in promoting a quality ethos, maintaining awareness of contemporary industry practices including, Accreditation, National Standards, technology and maintaining standards of best practice.

- Knowledge - The ability to apply specialized knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures and protocols required in the role of a Senior Security Officer operating within varying dynamic healthcare settings.
- Client Focus - Courteous and patient with staff and clients, being responsive to their needs. Follows up on issues and considerate of staff and client expectations.
- Problem solving -Ability to coordinate both individual and team responses to critical incidents / emergencies with a demonstrated ability to operate effectively under pressure and exercise initiative and judgement to efficiently utilize resources and produce innovative and effective solutions to situations not covered by existing policies, procedures or protocols.
- Communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to interact and communicate clearly and effectively with others. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and maintain confidentiality with staff, patients and visitors. Possess high level conflict resolution skills with an emphasis on de-escalation as opposed to physical confrontation.
