About your opportunity

Fixed Term Temporary part-time / 64 hours p.f. / 17.03.2024 up to 15.03.2026

The Clinical Nurse Consultant will collaborate with the ED multidisciplinary team and RACF clinicians to screen, assess and care plan for all frail older people presenting to the ED including from RACF's to ensure appropriate, coordinated and streamlined care to discharge or admission.

They will complete telephone triage of the acute and sub-acute needs of local RACF residents. Provide discharge planning support for RACF residents admitted to inpatient units. Phone follow up of RACF residents after emergency presentation or hospital admission as required.

What we are looking for?

  • Proven ability to provide expert nursing leadership and coordination within an inpatient and emergency environment.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards.
  • Ability to integrate the strategic direction and priorities for quality improvement into the clinical service, establishing a quality framework.
  • Demonstrated advanced leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management skills to ensure customer focused service provision amongst the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated high level of communication skills required for problem solving and decision making.
  • Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to demonstrate ongoing professional development of self and others.
  • Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles) with demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.

Generous remuneration package value up to $134,651 p.a. The following:

  • Salary range of $64.90 to $70.47 p.h. (Nurse Grade 7)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening: Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate.
  • Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
